Japan Display (JDI) will begin producing second-generation in-cell touch displays for use in smartphone applications by the end of 2015, according to a report from Japan-based Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.
The report also speculated that JDI's move comes following moves from LG Display and Sharp to further develop in-cell touch.
JDI's in-cell technology is used in Pixel Eyes displays that will fetaure increased sensitivity, including improved reaction that maintains fluidity even if a user performs functions with wet hands.
The company is expected to see most supply initially go to China vendors. In April-June 2015, about 70% of JDI's in-cell shipments went to vendors in the nation.
